At Random Mouse Software we have implemented a number of security
measures to ensure the safety of your credit card number during
transactions. You may feel confident that your card number is safe
from prying eyes for the following reasons:
- By ordering from our secure server (which utilizes
a Secure Socket Layer) your card number will travel
across the internet, from your browser to our server,
in the strongly-encrypted SSL format.
- When we receive your card number we immediately
re-scramble it (this time using industry-strength
Triple DES encryption) and send it on to
CyberCash, where
it securely enters the banking network and is
presented to your credit card issuer for authorization.
This all takes place in real time. Your order is
fulfilled a few seconds later (but may take as much
as 2 minutes during busy times of the day) when we
have received an authorization code from your card
issuer. More information about CyberCash (now
acquired by Verisign) can be found on the CyberCash Homepage. See also the Verisign Privacy Policy page for their statement
on privacy matters.
- Your card number is never written to hard disk
on our servers.
It flows into our site, pauses momentarily in order to
receive a new encryption format, and then heads off
to the banking network. We do not keep a record
of it. That way, even if our servers are compromised one
day by some evil hacker genius, your card number won't be
among the treasure they plunder from our site!
