VIEWING A MEMBER ARTIST

Prior to Reviews

Once an artist has enrolled themselves within a team they will appear on team pages along with other artists in the same team (assignment to multiple teams is supported by Review Foundry). Presently we find that rlucci appears in the Digital Art > Human Illustration team. The URL to the public entry point for Luke's artist review pages will be something like:

http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/path/to/.../foundry/do/foundry.cgi?module=find_member

If he makes his way to the detail page for rlucci he should see a page that looks similar to this:

About:
rlucci's artistry evokes the ghost of Patrick Nagel, and suggests that the style which graced the pages of Playboy in the 70's still has a place in the 21st century.

If Luke has correctly configured Review Foundry for thumbnailing (see the Review Foundry manual page on Thumbnails) the images which appear on the artist's detail page will be thumbnails of the images that artist rlucci uploaded to his member profile, the original full-sized versions of which can be seen by clicking on the thumbnails themselves.

With Reviews

The area of whitespace on the right of the page below the review submission link is where a graphical summary of ratings will appear once reviews are submitted and approved for the artist. In addition to providing the average value for each rating attribute associated with the Digital Art > Human Illustration team and the artist named rlucci, a set of ratings averaged over ALL artists in the team is also presented so that visitors to Luke's site can see how well rlucci fares in comparison to other models in his class (team). Here is what the page might look like after one review has been approved for rlucci and several other reviews have been submitted for other artists in his team (or group):

There is no doubt in my mind that rlucci is the logical successor to Nagel. He has perfected the style which Nagel cultivated so successfully, and with such originality. Despite the fact that rlucci's works are digital and not the wet canvas work of Nagel, they are nonetheless striking. The only thing holding this artist back, in my opinion, is that he has yet to apply his talent to an untouched area of expression. If rlucci's Nagel style was applied to the depiction of, say, atheletes in motion, I believe the results could be truly innovative and provide material worthy of study by artists to follow.

In addition to the "star" rating style (though in the example above our stars are represented as crosses) Luke has several other choices for representing the ratings. In fact there are 4 styles that come "out of the box" and each of these can be modified if desired by providing replacement images for the component .gif files used to construct each rating style (replacements can be carried out from the Configure control panel):

In addition to member detail pages which contain reviews, each member is allocated a Member Profile page that may contain extra member fields that do NOT appear on the detail pages (the Review Foundry webmaster decides which fields appear on both detail pages and Member Profile pages by adding or removing the relevant Template Toolkit tags. To see what the Member Profile page looks like for the member stacy, click here. Note that on the Edit Member Profile page, ALL fields are automatically formatted and displayed. This means that if extra fields are added to the Member table, it is not necessary to do anything to the Edit Member Profile templates to have them show up.
